Exactly 30 years after the original Toy Story film was released, launching the animation giant as a major animation studio and bringing audiences to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a glimpse into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is what Woody is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

At the very least, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before setting off for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge attached to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the group.

Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
